Hello, and thanks for the question. Work visas are not the same for every island, but generally the local population has to be offered the job first. Once the immigration department is satisfied that there are no suitable locals available, the employer may apply for a work visa for a foreign worker. The amount of time it takes to get the permit (visa) approved varies but it can be as little as two weeks and sometimes up to 3 months or longer in extreme cases. Hope this helps.
